Head: Dr. Richard Seifert
The research group investigates genesis, transformation, transport and distribution of organic compounds in specific compartment. Central research topics are:
Characterization of sources and sinks of trace gases of climatic relevance, e.g. CO2 , CH4 and halogenated hydrocarbons in rivers and oceans. Identification of organic compounds in sediments and screening of their applicability as relevant markers for biogeochemical processes. Investigation of origin and function of natural products in marine organisms and associated microorganisms. Analysis of anthropogenic pollutants and their behaviour in terrestrial and aquatic environments.
