Welcome to the junior research group Meat the bioeconomy.

We are an interdisciplinary team of researchers that has been working for 5 years (2023–2028) on the project Meat the bioeconomy—the meat industry as part of the bioeconomy: internationalization, geographies of labor and hegemonic strategies. Our research focuses on a common agenda on which 3 research groups (internationalization, geographies of labor, and politics and culture) with a total of 6 subprojects will be working. In three areas, we are examining the strategies that German meat industries use for sustainable meat production.

The junior research group is based at the Institute of Geography in the Department of Earth System Sciences at the University of Hamburg. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of its program to support Bioeconomy as social change junior research groups.
