Our team member Tamatoa, in collaboration with Nabil Ahmed (INTERPRT/NTNU), has co-authored Chapter 15 "Addressing the Impact of French Nuclear Testing in Mā’ohi Nui (French Polynesia") of the newly published volume "Is it Safe?", edited by Norwegian People's Aid (Norsk Folkehjelp).
The chapter examines the enduring consequences of French nuclear testing in Māʻohi Nui (French Polynesia), centering the experiences of people, land, and truth. It argues that the effects of nuclear testing did not end with the cessation of the tests decades ago, but continue to shape everyday life, affecting health, the environment, culture, and community well-being. For many families in the region, fundamental questions about safety and contamination remain unanswered to this day.
