Public event: Surviving nuclear weapon tests

On May 5, 2025, the University of Hamburg hosts a public event on surviving nuclear weapons tests.
Voices from nuclear test regions around the world come together to share their experiences of the lasting impacts of nuclear testing on people, land, and communities. The evening features the screening of the documentary “JARA – Radioactive Patriarchy: Women of Qazaqstan” presented by Aigerim Seitenova which focuses on women affected by nuclear testing in Semey, Qazaqstan.
Following the film, delegates share first-hand testimonies and reflect on nuclear justice, accountability, and the urgent need for global disarmament.
