Dr. William Foster
The overarching theme of my research is the coevolution of life and the planet, in particular how a rapidly changing climate affects marine ecosystems. My research is highly interdisciplinary and focuses on: mass extinction events, depositional systems (carbonate, clastic and mixed), paleobiology, and the impacts of climate change (e.g. ocean acidification, high temperatures, and deoxygenation).
At the Universität Hamburg I am an Emmy Noether Research Group Leader, with a group of interdisciplinary scientists (postdocs, PhD students and undergraduates) including micropalaeontologists, palaeontologists, inorganic geochemists and organic geochemists. There are lots of opportunities to pursue research in Hamburg and if you would like to work with our group, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
