Extractivism as Aesthetics - Book talkKunstverein in Hamburg - Bibliothek
7 November 2024, 8:00 pm
You are warmly invited to this event on 7 November at Kunstverein in Hamburg, where Prof. Dr. Eray Çaylı will talk about his forthcoming book: "Extractivism as Aesthetics"
"Through the prism of Northern Kurdistan, Eray Çaylı's lecture responds to a world of increasing contradictions in which ecological sensibilities accumulate alongside extractivism and its images. Çaylı explores these contradictions by examining extractivism in its aesthetics - how it makes the colonized and their homelands perceptible and available only as exploitable and marketable resources. In his lecture at the Kunstverein in Hamburg, he thinks in and with contemporary art and experimental film, which critically engage with environments and representations shaped by a colonial nation-state." You can read more here.
The Kunstverein is open until 9 p.m. as part of Long Thursday, and Dr. Martin Karcher will give a guided tour of the exhibition before the lecture.
