New publication: “Atomwaffen stehen nicht alleine“ (Wissenschaft & Frieden, 2026/1)

Janina has published an article in German titled "Atomwaffen stehen nicht alleine: Strukturen nuklearer Gewalt und pazifischer Widerstand" ("Nuclear Weapons Do Not Stand Alone: Structures of Nuclear Violence and Pacific Resistance") in the journal Wissenschaft & Frieden (2026/1, Ozeanien).

The article examines over four decades of nuclear testing in the Pacific carried out by present-day NATO states, tracing the enduring entanglements between nuclear violence and broader socio-ecological crises, including health impacts, environmental degradation, cultural erosion, and (post-)colonial dependencies. Drawing on the patterns of peripheralisation, devaluation, and land dispossession, the article situates nuclear testing within a continuum of colonial and racialised violence. It also highlights the long history of Pacific resistance movements and their interconnected struggles for nuclear justice, climate justice, and independence.
