How to deal with discrimination
The geography of Universität Hamburg is a place for learning and work where all people are valued—regardless of their status group and disciplinary orientation, as well as for example their ethnic background, nationality, age, gender, religion or worldview, sexual orientation, social status, family status, appearance, chronicle illness, and disability.
As employees and students, we promote a culture of openness, mutual respect, and constructive exchange, and we do not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, or exclusion. We do not reproduce stereotypes.
We work to counteract structural inequalities at the university and commit ourselves to reducing and dismantling them.
The diversity of perspectives, experiences, and scientific approaches is the essence of geography and enriches our research, teaching, and collaboration. Together, we take responsibility for creating an environment in which all people can feel safe, respected, and welcome—and in which their participation in academic life is not limited by structural barriers.
