19 November 2025

19. - 23.11.
Tamatoa attends the WIPCE (World Indigenous Peoples' Conference on Education) in Aotearoa, New Zealand. He introduced his research on “Understanding and Questioning nuclear impacts for Māòhi people: Narratives and a long road to Compensation, Reconciliation, and Healing” to the audience.
Engaging with the concept of narrative is crucial, especially at a time when this expertise is viewed as mere stories and may not be able to challenge the myth of nuclear deterrence. Challenging this perspective by engaging deeply with the narratives of affected communities regarding the impacts of nuclear weapons is therefore essential at a time when leading figures in international politics seek to resume the nuclear testing program.
