Heatwave lag effects in the Arctic

In 2020, Siberia experienced a severe, record-breaking heatwave. This unprecedented heatwave affected the carbon cycle in both 2020 and 2021. See the details of the study from Kwon et al. (Minjung Kwon and Christian Beer from the Dynamics of Soil Processes working group). The study was selected as an EOS research highlight,  and featured on UHH-CEN Linked-in and the UNDRR (UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction) website.

MsC-Germany-Excursion 2025

Students of the MSc program in Geosciences with a specialization in Soil Science are on an 11-day excursion in Germany from 29.07.-08.08.25 to study soils of different bedrocks. The focus is on the determination of characteristics, classification and derivation of site properties.
