The arctic expedition season has started! Friederike Neiske, Carolina Voigt, and Christian Knoblauch will conduct field work in the Kilpisjärvi region, Finland, during June to explore greenhouse gas sinks and the effects of rapid permafrost thaw on carbon and nutrient cycling. Field work in Kilpisjärvi will continue throughout the summer. During the first part of this expedition, the team successfully installed an automated chamber system for continuous measurements of greenhouse gas fluxes in arctic tundra. The expedition is conducted as part of the projects COLDSPOT and PeTCaT.
