About the Institute
Geophysical research deals with the development of physical properties and of spatial and temporal changes in the Earth's crust and interior and of its force fields. Through physical measurements, data about the state of the Earth and its dynamics are recorded. The developed model concepts are interpreted in the context of geological processes. More...
The Institute of Geophysics focuses its research activites on applied geophysics, volcanology, seismology and marine geophysics.
Matriculation is currently possible for the following degree programs: B.Sc. Course "Geophysics / Oceanography" and M.Sc. Course "Geophysics".
We are a member of the Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability (CEN) and participate in the cluster of excellence "Climate, Climate Change and Society" (CliCCS). We were also part of the cluster of excellence "Integrated Climate System Analysis and Prediction" (CliSAP).
