Geophysical research deals with the development of physical properties and of spatial and temporal changes in the Earth's crust and interior and of its force fields. The Institute of Geophysics focuses its research activites on volcanology, seismology machine learning in geophysics, marine geophysics and applied geophysics.

It is currently possible to enrole for one the following degree programs: B.Sc. Course "Geophysics / Oceanography" and M.Sc. Course "Geophysics".

We are a member of the Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability (CEN) and participate in the cluster of excellence "Climate, Climate Change and Society" (CliCCS). We were also part of the cluster of excellence "Integrated Climate System Analysis and Prediction" (CliSAP).
