Forschungsinteressen
Im Rahmen meiner wissenschaftlichen Arbeit studiere ich aktive Erdprozesse mit seismischen und hydroakustischen Methoden. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt auf solchen Prozessen und Strukturen, die das Relief des Meeresbodens prägen. Dies sind z.B. Sedimentablagerungen unter dem Einfluss von Meeresspiegelschwankungen oder Meeresströmungen (Sequenzstratigraphie und Konturitbildung), Platten- und Salztektonik, Hangrutschungen, submariner Vulkanismus oder Fluid- und Gasaustritte.
Regionale Schwerpunkte gruppieren sich entlang der Afro-Eurasischen Kollisionszone zwischen den Azoren im Atlantik und dem Levantebecken im östlichen Mittelmeer. Weiterhin arbeite ich im Golf von Mexiko, bei den Malediven und in der Ostsee.
