Geophysics and the Einstein Telescope
17 June 2019
On June 17th, 10:00 a.m. Prof. Jan Harms, Gran Sasso Science Institute, L'Aquila, Italy, will give a presentation on "The role of geophysics in the evaluation of candidate sites of the Einstein Telescope". The presentation will take place at the Institute of Geophysics, Geomatikum, room, 1438.
Prof. Harms is chair of the Virgo Newtonian-noise working group with the task to develop systems to mitigate terrestrial gravity noise. His main research focus has been to conceive and to investigate technologies that will lead to sensitivity improvements in future gravitational-wave detectors. The abstract of the presentation is available here.
The presentation is jointly hosted by the Institute of Geophysics and the cluster of excellence "Quantum Universe".
