What we do
As student representatives of our program, we participate in the examination board meetings and act as spokespeople for our classmates in other official settings. But we also organize events for the masters students such as the monthly Stammtisch, Orientation Week for incoming students, and the MICSSed weekend - a chance for all SICSS masters students to get out of the city and enjoy some time in the countryside! We're here to help our fellow students if they have questions, and we have lots of tools and camping gear for students to borrow. We also make sure the masters rooms always have enough coffee and tea for those busy study sessions!
ICSS Orientation Week (OE) (October 5 – 9, 2026)
The MICSS Student Council organizes the ICSS Orientation Week and is specifically aimed at new ICSS students. You will receive important information about your degree program and learn what you need to know for a successful start, including information on:
- course registration and organizing your studies
- the structure of the ICSS program
- important academic and administrative procedures
- university services and support opportunities
- student life and the ICSS community

ICSS Buddy Program
Starting a new degree program and settling into a new city is easier when you have someone to turn to. Through the ICSS Buddy Program, new students can be paired with a current ICSS student who can answer questions, share their experiences, and help you get settled into university and student life in Hamburg.
If you would like to participate in the Buddy Program, please get in touch with us at fsr-icss@uni-hamburg.de and include your full name and country of origin.
Your buddy can be a first point of contact for questions about everyday student life, the ICSS program, or getting settled in Hamburg.
