The most important about STiNE
STiNE is the campus-wide integrated software that connects the student, course and examination administration at the Universität Hamburg with each other. All students and teachers as well as the administration need STiNE access. If you do not yet have STiNE access, the Studienbüro Geowissenschaften will be happy to help you.
Tutorials for teaching staff are available in STiNE under "Service" -> "tutorials"
You can reach the colleagues of the STiNE team of the RRZ by telephone:
Phone: 428 38-7790
Monday to Friday: 7:30 am -7:30 pm.
In addition, it is possible to send questions to the STiNE team using an electronic form or to report problems. You can call up the support form and describe your concern. The STiNE team will get in touch with you and help you solve your problem.
Examinations
Modules are concluded with module (partial) examinations. You will find your exams in STiNE under the respective semester with the course name. Exams that are assigned to the module level can be found under the module name, provided you are listed as the module manager.
At the beginning of the semester at the latest, we require information from you on the exact type of examination (e.g. written exam, oral examination, term paper, etc.), provided that the subject-specific regulations allow scope in the choice of examination type, as well as on the examination dates (date, time, room).
Registration of students
Students must register themselves for an exam in STiNE. Registration or cancellation is possible up to three days before the examination date. Students can only register for a repetition date after the grades of the previous examination attempt have been entered in STiNE.
It is possible that you have several participant lists in STiNE for each exam. This may be due to the fact that one and the same exam is planned in several modules or completely without module reference.
Performance of the examination
Before the start of the examination:
If students take part in an examination without being registered in STiNE, the examination may not be evaluated. However, since, for example, errors in STiNE may have occurred or the student may have registered with the Studienbüro at short notice before the examination, we recommend that you allow students who are not on your list of participants to take the examination subject to reservation. This means that the examination will only be evaluated if a check shows that a timely application has been submitted. The students are to be informed about this. Please contact the Studienbüro immediately after the examination to clarify further procedures. Please do not establish the examination result before the verification has taken place.
During the examination:
Special occurrences must be recorded in writing. These can be e.g. disturbances or presumed attempts to deceive, i.e. attempts to influence the test result by deception or unauthorised aids. If you discover an attempt to deceive, point this out to the student(s) and secure unauthorised aids. However, let them finish the exam and comment on the accusation. Only the board of examiners decides whether an attempt at deception has been made. On request, we will be happy to provide you with more detailed information.
Please use our protocol templates for recording oral examinations (including presentations on theses).:
examination protocol (PDF) oder examination protocol online fillable (PDF)
notes on digital oral exams (PDF, German only)
After the examination:
"The evaluation of the examination performance should be carried out immediately, at the latest 4 weeks after the examination" (PO § 15 (1); STiNE-tutorial "Examination administration online").
For students who were registered but did not participate, the check mark has to be set to "Absent". Please do not hesitate to tick this box, even if this is initially considered a failed attempt. Without this entry, the Studienbüro will not be able to enter apologies for non-participation (e.g. illness) in STiNE.
If students have participated under reservation or if a suspected attempt at deception has taken place, please contact the Studienbüro as soon as possible.
You send the minutes of oral examinations to the Studienbüro after you have entered the grades in STiNE. Only for final modules will the grades be entered by the Studienbüro (grades of the reviews and the presentation for the final thesis).
Once you have released the grades, you can no longer change them yourself. If changes are necessary, e.g. due to input errors or because you have come to a different conclusion after reconsidering the grade, the Studienbüro will help you.
